Greg Smith starting competing in the early seventies with a versitile Part Arabian, 'Oliver", in hack, jumping, dressage and eventing events.  His mentor at that time was Aileen Burns (nee Axom) with vast show jumping experience. Aileen had just commenced breeding Riverglen Australian Ponies.

 When Greg moved to Brisbane he started to focus on the show hack ring with two of his mother's ex-racehorses working out of the Vince Corvi stables at Marburg.

In 1974 Mike Smith returned to Brisbane and Greg and Mike commenced their showing career together as MGS Equine Investments.

Greg and Mike retired from active showing in 2014. 

Mike is a past Chair of the Riding Pony Stud Book Society Ltd. Board of Directors and past Treasurer of Show Horse Council of Queensland. He was a founding member of the EFA (Qld) Show Horse Committee and the founding President of the Show Horse Committee in Queensland.

Greg served on the RPSBS Federal Committee for many years in the 80's and 90's both as Federal Treasurer and Vice Chair. Greg helped form the Queensland Riding Pony Committee and was a member of that Committee up until the end of 2021. Greg was also a member of the Show Horse Council Queensland Committee for many years.
