Smithfields News - June 2005

EFA Newcomer Show: Saturday the weather was absolutely magic.  Under the most brilliant blue skies Indy (Garden Vale Stylish Image) was awarded the Newcomer Championship.
SHCQ Rising Star Show : Not such a magic day weather wise with showers turning to rain by lunch time.  Smithfields Dante was Best Presented Show hunter Galloway and Runner-Up Show Hunter Galloway.  This was a great suprise for us as this was only Dante's second show.  Our thanks to Ruth Hannan who did such a great job on Danny as he is know at home.

Greg Smith rode the Andulsian/Warmblood cross filly, Willtonia Silvia for Diane and Peter Leslight of Bundaberg.  Unfortunately Silvia took exception to the cold, drizzley weather and had trouble with her right strike-off.  Apart from that she looked every bit the Show hunter Hack and she still managed to place top 5.  Within two days it had become evident that she had been suffering from a viral infection so has had to be given time to recuperate.
Rosewood Show: This show has a great Hunter program and we had planned to shoe both the galloway and hack hunters.  With Silvia being sick that left us with two galloways, Dane and First Class.  Ruth, as usual showed Dante.  He had a brilliant day winning the Newcomer Galloway, the Show Hunter Galloway Championship and finally the Supreme Show hunter of the show.  Remember this is his third show.  Ruth's partner, Jeremy Cook, who rode for us in the 90's rode First Class.  She also had a great day winning the Novice Galloway Championship.
