Smithfields News - July 2005

Some rain at last on the paddock at Beaudesert but we need so much more. Unfortunately we have had to bring Evening home as she cut up quite badly with the wet weather followed by the two frosts.  She just didn't grow a sufficiently warm winter coat in her first winter out.  We also brought home for company one of the Magistrate weanling fillies who hadn't been handling the winter all too well.

Have had a lovely drawing sent to us from Jazna Kent who now owns Ferrari.  Jazna and her mother, Juliana, have also started to show Smithfields Bardot who was previously shown so successfully by Barbatte Chandler from Toowoomba.  Our many thanks to Barbette and her rider, Emily Hart for the great work they did with Bridget (obviously the right stable name for Bardot).  Bridget was Champion Led Show hunter mare at Brisbane Royal and has had many Champion ridden Hunter wins to her credit.
At Richmond Shire Show Ferrari was Champion Led Galloway, 1st in his Open and Best Educated and Reserve Champion Galloway Hack.  Bardot won her ridden Hunter Pony, the Best Educated and was Champion Hunter.

Gatton Show: Greg took out Champion ridden ANSA horse with MGS Shimmer.  Shimmer needed an outing before Courntney Midson takes him to the EFA HOTY Show at the beginning of August. Hopefully they can be as successful a combination as they were in Sydney where Courtney won Champion Lady Rider.
The Novice Galloway hack class at Gatton had Smithfields Galloways in 1st, 2nd and 3rd placings.  Jeremy Cook was 1st with First Class, Mandy Edwards was 2nd with Secrets and Ruth Hannan was 3rd with Dante.  Danny was out of his class type here with no Show Hunter classes but he managed to work his way up into the placings with his workouts.  Jeremy also took out the Gent's Galloway and Mandy was placed in all her events.
